Last of the Summer … overheating!
An air conditioning problem at the Wrinkled Stocking Café presented engineers at TEV Ltd with quite a problem. The company was approached by the owners Chris and Sue Gardner who were desperate to find a way of keeping cool while preparing lunches for the many visitors who come to Holmfirth to view the locations of the Last of the Summer Wine TV series.
Selecting an air conditioning unit was the easy part as TEV’s Eco range of heat pumps are compact, quiet and cool and heat very efficiently. The Eco35 giving 3.5kW of cooling and 3.7kW of heating was ideal for the application. The problem arose because the café is an old stone built cottage located in a conservation area next door
to Nora Battye’s house. Because of this the position of the outdoor unit became an issue of concern not only to the neighbours but also to the planning authorities and even the BBC! In the meantime the Gardners were suffering unbearable temperatures in their kitchen and a solution had to be found.
Fortunately the TEV engineers found an answer that suited everyone – they were able to fit the unit out of site under the steps at the back of the cottage and then make a very neat and discrete pipe run from the unit into The Wrinkled Stocking’s kitchen.
Sue and Chris are amazed at the difference the Eco system has made to their kitchen and are delighted with the result. Now they are able to work in comfort even on the hottest and busiest summer day and they have the added benefit of being able to warm the kitchen up quickly on cold winter mornings!
