Prior to Installation Questions & Answers

How long does it take to install an Eco System?

In most circumstances, a single application can be installed in one day, with minimum disruption.

What maintenance should we do?

Clean the filters. To do this lift the front cover, remove and clean the filters in soapy water, dry and re-fit.

What are the benefits of Air Conditioning?

The benefits of Air Conditioning are to give a comfortable environment at
work or at home throughout the seasons, spring, summer, autumn and winter. The Eco system has two functions - heating and cooling, you set the temperature and the unit will cool or heat as required automatically.

Is there a service contract available?

We can arrange for an annual inspection and maintenance service – just send us an email.

Why bother with a yearly Preventative
Maintenance Service?

A properly maintained system will save you money on your energy bills and will ensure your Eco unit performs at peak efficiency and gives many years of trouble free service. During a preventive maintenance, certain parts that can cause trouble when dirty, are cleaned to keep the system running smoothly and efficiently. A maintenance service also includes inspection of your system so problems can be identified before they cause a failure.

What warranty do I get?

The unit is supplied with a 12 months parts warranty and your installer
should give you a similar warranty covering his installation work.

Where can I use Air Conditioning units?

The Eco air conditioning system is suitable for areas requiring heating and/or cooling in domestic premises, offices, shops and restaurants.

What does EER mean?

The EER, or Energy-Efficiency Rating, measures the air conditioner's energy consumption and efficiency. A high EER rating means less energy is being consumed.

What is COP?

This is the Coefficient of Performance, which is the ratio between the power input and power output. For example a modern heat pump such
as the Eco will provide 3kw of heat for 1kw of electrical power input.
Therefore the COP is expressed as 3 – 1 which is in fact 300% efficiency!

What is a heat pump?

A heat pump is a machine that uses the refrigeration cycle to provide heating or cooling. To cool - the indoor unit extracts heat from the room and pumps it outside through the outdoor unit. To heat - the outdoor
unit extracts heat from the outside air, increases the temperature of the heat and pumps it into the room via the indoor unit.

Because a heat pump uses a refrigerant it can heat a room to 25oC or more using heat extracted from low temperature outside air Also
because it uses heat extracted from the outside air it is very efficient – up to 300% - and so the heating costs are 1/3 of direct electric heaters such as radiators or fan heaters.

Do refrigerants harm the ozone layer?

Modern refrigerants such as R410a which the Eco system uses cause much less damage to the ozone layer than most other refrigerants and they are very energy efficient and so help to reduce carbon emissions. Also all refrigerants should only be handled by competent companies and technicians so should never be released to the atmosphere.

Will the air-conditioner create cold draughts?

Air conditioning systems cool by blowing cold air into the room and so
cold draughts can be felt from badly installed or incorrectly positioned units. It is important that this issue is considered before installation so the best location for the unit can be selected. The louvres on the Eco can be set with the remote control to vary the direction of the airflow to give the most comfortable operation.

Can air conditioning make you ill?

A well-maintained air conditioning system will contribute to a healthier environment. The Eco units are fitted with a filter to catch dust, pollen
and other airborne particles and the units can be used to dry the
air if the atmosphere is too damp. For the filters to be effective they must be cleaned regularly and this should be done after 100 hours operation.
